Faith Communities
Sisters of Saint Mary of Namur
We were among the faith communities who gathered to mourn fifty people killed in two New Zealand mosques on March fifteenth. Prayer, speakers and gracious hospitality took place at the Islamic Association of Tarrant County in Fort Worth.
Sisters Louise Smith, Miriam NeSmith, and Mary Frances Serafino, with over one hundred Muslims, Christians and Jews, listened to speakers and prayed for the victims of that terrorist attack. Speakers included Imam Moujahed Bakhach, Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger, and Mayor Betsy Price. Congregation was told that “the service was planned in part to surround Fort Worth’s Muslim community with love and to ‘learn to listen and move in compassionate interaction in our own community.”
Sr. Mary Frances Serafino
