SSMN Chapter Memories for 2019

7/7/18:


• Few pictures that I took last Friday!!!
• Friday evening: Group pictures with some Sisters from Rwanda, Tanzania and Brazil..
• We went to mass at La Pairelle, Namur!! Sisters from Rwanda, Congo, Belgium, Buffalo and Texas!!!
• Wash hands before lunch!! Then we sang a blessing before lunch!! Let’s eat I’m hungry!!! Sr. Margaret
Baxter!!!
• Sisters were enjoying the exhibit of our history in Namur, Belgium this afternoon!!! 200th years!!! A
long history of SSMN!! Many things to be grateful for.
• Brazilian Sisters!!!!
• Few groups pictures!!
• Snack time before our Opening Vespers for our Chapter!!!

July 8, 2019:

• Getting ready for our Solemn Opening Prayer yesterday evening!!!
• Welcoming speech from the Belgium Provincial, Sr. Cecilia !!!
• Vespers in Mother Claire Chapel in Namur Belgium!!! Opening for our 2019 Chapter!!
• Hopes and dreams from the oldest sister!! Sr. Thérèse Marie!!!
• Sr. Jessica from Cameroon suppose to give her hopes and dreams as a youngest sister but she couldn’t
make it. So Sr. Maureen asked me to read Sr. Jessica’s letter. “ Long Live the young Sisters of Saint
Mary of Namur!!”
• After Vespers and we were ready to head back to Jambes, Belgium!!! It was a very beautiful prayer
before the Chapter!!
• Singing happy birthday and blessings to Sr. Christina at lunchtime today!!!

July 9, 2019

• One of our chores is to set the tables for lunch and of supper!!! It happened to be Sr. Gabriela
present her report this afternoon and Sr. Ann Marie gave us a USA napkins to use..
• I got this shirt on my birthday!!! Thank you Sr. Yolanda!!!
• Sr. Marie Madeline from Rwanda, one of her chores is putting fresh flowers on the tables!!!
• Sisters St. Paul and Marie Madeline were picking berries with me this morning at Nazareth!!!
• Me with my boss, Sr. St. Paul picking up berries!!!
• After picking the berries, time to clean them!! Great team work!!!

July 10, 2019

• Sisters from Rwanda Singing!!! (video)
• Look at the new headphones and new microphones they use in the chapter room this year!!!!
• Break time yesterday and today!! You can tell the Sisters are so busy and they need their snacks and
coffee to recharge their energy!!!
• Sisters from Britain presented their report this afternoon!!! They got an U.K. napkins!!!!
• Look at my helpers washing and drying dishes today!!! Thank you! Merci!! Obrigada!!

July 11, 2019

• Morning Prayer led by Sisters from Congo!!!
• Ann and I got a chance to listen to the presenter today, Sr. Marian Ambroso DP!! So we were in the
Chapter room checking out the new headphones and microphone!
• Some pictures in the chapter room!!!
• A word of Gratitude from our General Superior, Sr. Maureen to Sr. Marian for her wisdom and hopes
that she shared with us today. She will leave early tomorrow morning for the chapter of her
congregation..

July 13, 2019

• Still waiting for the bus to arrive!!!
• Sisters from Cameroon finally arrived!!
• That’s what happened when we welcome our Sisters from Cameroon!!! Sister Julienne from Congo, Sister
Elania from Brazil and myself!!!
• Before getting into the bus yesterday morning!!!
• This is what happened while waiting for the bus yesterday morning!!!
• Yeah!! The bus finally arrived!!
• Yesterday morning, getting on the boat to go to Mother Claire’s villages!!!
• Happy to be on the boat and ready to go see Châtelet, Belgium!!!
• Three years ago, I met these beautiful and energetic Sisters from Canada, Julie and Julienne from
Congo!!! Now I met them again!!!
• Some activities on the boat, playing cards, sharing, singing and dancing!!!
• My first group, Sisters Louis Cabana from Canada, Dancille, Marie Camille from Rwanda and Tereza from
Brazil!!!
• Inside the boat, time for prayer, singing happy birthday for all the July birthday and had some
cakes!!!!
• Picture with the Captain!!
• Leaving to the first school in Châtelet!!
• Because this was Saturday, no students in school, so four of the staffs welcome us with their
favorite different kinds of tarts, coffee, juice and water!!!
• They gave a little news on what they had done at the school and took us for a tour!!!

• Closed the day with a beautiful prayer in different languages!!!

• We couldn’t go inside the church at Châtelet because it was locked
• So we took the bus back home around 6:15pm. It was a full day but great!!!

• Morning prayers and mass today led by the Sisters from Brazil!!!
• Time for dessert!!!
• Famous place in Brussels!!!
• At the famous grand plaza in Brussels!!!
• Belgium fries for lunch!!!
• With the professional choirs!!!

• We met the Bishop in Namur while waiting for the train!!!
• Yesterday morning getting ready to go to Brussels with Sisters Marie Pierre, Francoise, Ann and me!!

7/19/19

• The beginning of our morning, walking to the bus stop, waiting for the bus to go to Namur for the
Mass of the Holy Spirit, selection of our new Superior General!!!
• Finally I got my sisters from Texas and Ann Smith (oblate) before mass!!!
• With Sr. Margret Baxter, from British Region!!!
• Holy Spirit Mass for the election of our new Superior General!!!
• Waiting for the Bishop to come and announce our new Superior General!!!
• Bishop Warin announces that Sr. Immaculate is our new Superior General!!!
• Sing Allelluia and Magnificat to close our celebration!!!
• Time to congratulate Sr. Immaculate!!
• Continue the Celebration!!!

• This morning, some of went to mass at Emmaus Church!!!
• Beginning of the National Day of Belgium yesterday, the Sisters watched the parade!!!
• Sr. Ann Marie gave us the Belgium flag when we entered the dining room!!!
• Celebrated the National Day in Belgium yesterday, July 21th !!
• Time for bread, cheese and Belgium beers!!!!
• Yummy!!
• Ice cream for dessert!!!
• Singing mercy song to the Belgium Sisters!!!!
• All yummy!!!
• Never leave a party without singing!! SSMN Spirit!!!
• After the party yesterday, I had a lot of Sisters helping with the dishes!!

• Sr. Elizabeth from Buffalo, arrived this morning!!!!

7/24/19

• Morning prayer this morning prepared by Sister Patricia Ridgley from Texas remembering our dear
Sisters who have gone before us this last six years. And also the feast day of St. James, the
Apostle!!!
• Sr. Mary Susan just arrived from U.K. !!!
• Mass this evening prepared by Sr. Patricia Ridgely from the Region of Texas!!! Happy Feast Day of
St. James!!!
• Sr. Sarah from UK just arrived!! Welcome!!!

7/26/19

• Lovely mass this morning at 8am prepared by the Sisters from Rwanda and Tanzania!!!
• Here’s our Superior General, Sr. Immaculate with her four Councilors, Sr. Barbara ( UK) , Sr. Marie
Justine ( Congo), Sr. Ana ( Belgium) and Sr. Maria das Graca, ( Brazil) !!
• Lovely Sisters from the U.K. with Sr. Gabriela!!!
• Sing thank you to our great cook!!! Antoinette and Franca!!!
• In gratitude from all of us Sisters to these marvelous cook!!!
• Final evening prayer this evening prepared by Sr. Patricia Brown ( Buffalo) and Sr. Louise Swanston
(UK)!!
• Transfer of Leadership; Sr. Maureen is calling the New Superior and her General Councilors to come up for
the transition. It was moved and prayerful to see Sr. Maureen, Sr. Rosemary and Sr. Marie Francoise gave
the WORD to the new Councilors with a words of encouragement and blessings!!!!
• Each Provincial made an intentions during the prayers!!!

• We had a delicious lunch!!!
• Look how Sr. Marie Justine gave direction to Sr. Marie Francois!!!

• After giving directions, Sr. Marie Justine is ready to take a picture!!!
• Sr. Rosemary Stanton, Ann Smith ( Oblate), and me!!
• Finally we got our homemade waffle with real ice cream and fresh fruits!!!

7/28/19

• Getting ready to go to St. Loop Church for our 200th Year Celebration!!!!
• July 28th, before our morning mass celebrated our 200th year of our Congregation, I stopped by in Namur
to help set the tables!!! Sr. Lea from Congo and I were partner that morning!!!
• In St. Loop Church before mass!!!
• Sr. Immaculate gave an opening speech before mass.
• Getting ready for our 200th year’s mass last Sunday, July the 28th!
• I love this picture!!!
• 200th year mass celebration. Very historic because we were in our Founder’s Parish, St. Loop Church in
Namur Belgium.
• During offertory, each Sister carried a symbol representing her province.
• After communion, the Sisters from Rwanda and me did a dance from their culture!!!
• Thank you to Sr. Mary Dorothy for video our dance!!
• Here’s our 8 Provinces and Regions with their symbols!!!
• Unveiling our SSMN sign outside our first building in Namur!!!
• I received a special gift from my dear sisters from Rwanda!!! Safe travel today!!!

7/29-30-31/19

• The day that we left Belgium!!! See you later Belgium!!!
• The day that Sisters from Brazil left.
• The day that the Sisters from Canada left Belgium.
• This morning, the Sisters from Rwanda left Belgium. Safe travel!!!
